Went to a bar night with a bunch of Canterbury LGBT kids tonight in London called Popstarz at The Den in London near Tottenham Court Road.
Drink prices were reasonable, music was good, the customers seemed cool. The staff however, treated the customers like shit at the point I left.
A friend was feeling ill so outside for some air. Staff pulled her to one side and said quietly, “come with me please”, at which point they ejected her without her things, and told me if I wanted to collect my possessions from the cloak room, I had to queue for 20+ minutes to get my coat and things to keep her warm against the 1am winter chill. Her own things were inside their group bus, due to collect them at 3.30am.
The entire time she was outside, at times barely conscious, the staff kept their distance, were unhelpful when asked for the venue address to provide to an ambulance, and uncaring. Luckily, two nurses from St Georges Hospital were in the queue and gave a lot of help whilst we kept her warm until the ambulance arrived, but their entire handling of things (the venue’s staff) was disgraceful.
The girl only had three drinks at this venue, whiskey&coke, and perhaps she can’t handle her drink, but their attitude and behavior was dehumanising and typical of what brings a neighbourhood down. She’s fortunate to be in a good condition at the moment.
