It’s Batman. With a Guitar.

On Friday, we had the monthly Acoustic Domestic, except usually it runs on a Wednesday. It was going to be a Christmas party type thing. Antonio, the host, bought a tree and let us attach our own baubles, and guests played a mixture of covers and their own material, eventually having a jam session that went on til around 4.30 am. The above video is Dan and Matan playing Heard It Through The Grapevine. You can see Rosalie on tambourine, Antonio passing it to her, Daryl with his santa hat on, and yes that is an upright bass being played in their kitchen. We also had a cello, a violin, a harp, lots of guitars, drums and more.
At some point, I just quit filming things and began drinking more whiskey, picking up an ukulele and singing along to carols. Such good vibes though.
Here’s another video, too. Acoustic Domestic Hit The Road Jack Tainted Love Medley.mov

David was talking about his old band and how they used to dress and perform on stage. This is one of the many ways he used to play guitar.

My friend’s company is doing a ‘how to play Muse’ DVD, and Matt Bellamy sent them a custom Manson guitar of his to borrow. Look at that beauty. (Via LickLibrary)

I’m sure I’ve talked about Ronald Jenkees before in my blog - he’s a beat maker who found his following on YouTube. He makes sincere videos showing improv moments where he’s made the basic spine of a hiphop instrumental, and then he jumps on his keyboard and freestyles the main body of it. He’s insanely good, and you can check him out at this link here. Anyway, I was watching an old video of his from 2007 - “A fun beat from outer space” - which I think is phenomenal, and when I went to his main page it had this cover version that one of his fans had done, but on guitar, and its amazing. Check out the shredding and give him a listen.
You can pick up Ronald’s CDs direct from Youtube.
Edit: Also, the reason I was on his page was that I was listening to his song Neptune off of an album of his, and I’m pretty sure Glee bought it and used the instrumental for Halo/Walking On Sunshine.

Chris Brown live at Drop in November. I love his technique for playing the guitar and setting a constant rhythm too.
